We will be making pinhole photographs using a coffee can as our camera!
Pinhole photography is a very diverse and interesting approach to photography, so simple that you will build a lens-less camera yourself in 30 minutes and get shooting right away.
On this 2 day course you will learn the basic principles of photography and the Black & White chemical process for printing your images. Using positive photographic paper, we will explore a number of different approaches to image making, namely portraiture and studio lighting, city scape and natural lighting as well as experimental and alternative processes.
The main goal for this workshop is to produce as many images as possible, with the intention of displaying the work on the walls at STATTLAB as a small exhibition to conclude the 2 days of learning and image making.
Day 1 (Saturday)
12:00 - 18:00
- Meet & greet, introduction to Statt Lab and course outline (coffee & tea included)
- Short film about pinhole photography
- Camera building
- Introduction to taking light readings and making exposures
- Introduction to the darkroom and developing B&W images
- Lighting and portraiture
Day 2 (Sunday)

- Pinhole exhibition at STATTLAB, open to friends and family
Since the goal is to produce as many photographs as possible, at the the end of the course we will have plenty of art to show. We will take a couple of hours to curate our photography exhibition and you are welcome to invite friends or family to visit the show. (Opening time 19:00 to 22:00).
What does it cost?
The course costs 150€ per person. This price includes a pinhole camera, camera building materials, access to a large community darkroom, photo chemicals, positive photo paper all wrapped up the end with a small exhibition of the work produced over the course.
At the end of the course you will have your very own camera, a big pile of pinhole photographs and as a bonus you get a "darkroom starter kit" including all the materials you would need to continue producing pinhole photographs on your own at home.
To reserve a space on the next workshop, or if you have any questions please send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org
To complete your reservation you must send an advance payment of 150€. The minimum cancellation period is 48 hours before the course begins. I prefer not to cancel a workshop so in an emergency we can of course re-schedule your course to a more convenient time.
