Where to find us

Our address is:

STATTLAB e.V.,
Drontheimer Str. 34, 13359 Berlin, DE

By BVG (recommended): nearest subway station is U8/ U9 Osloer Str. In the upper circular level of the subway station, take the exit “Finanzamt/Drontheimer”. Follow the street Seestraße westwards for around 200m. Turn left into Drontheimer Straße. Walk past the DRK Hospital, and also past our building directly next to it (our building, number 34, is the block of orange brick you pass on the sidewalk, but there is no entrance on that side). Walk into the yard, and take the entrance door on your left, left to the Shop of Sanitär Hintze, purveyor of fine plumbing equipment. Climb the stairs to the first floor. Ring the bell (maybe several times if necessary).

If you want to come by car (not recommended), don’t use the parking in front of our entrance door, Sanitär Hintze do not like that, they say they need them for their customers and deliveries. Try Poco market two houses further down the street, they have a large parking lot and don’t seem to care.

Also, if you come by bike (highly recommended), use the bicycle rack, and don’t chain your bike to the staircase railing in- or outside the building, the caretake hates that.

When to find us

We do not have regular opening hours. And no reception desk either because our members have a key and come whenever they want, 24/7.

Therefore, if you want to make a surprise visit to the lab, a good time would be between 11 am - 6 pm. However, even better: Get in touch first and make an appointment with one of us – to be sure to have someone who has time to show you around and is not annoyed because his developer is getting cold or her ink is drying in the screen.

Do a workshop!

A workshop is the easiest way to get in touch and to work at STATTLAB. It’s also a way to learn something new, to tackle a creative project and to have fun.

Become a member!

You enjoyed your workshop, you liked the atmosphere at the lab and the people over there? You feel like continuing, you have ideas for projects and would like to try working in an atelier community? No problem, with pleasure!

Talk to your workshop tutor (having done a workshop previously is mandatory for a membership application). Write an email to the members of the board (vorstand@stattlab.net) and arrange a meeting. The board members usually have a meeting twice a month, and they would like to have tea with you. Don’t worry – this is no vetting, no job interview, it’s really only about getting to know each other. This is also a good opportunity for you to get to know more members and to ask questions.

If there is mutual sympathy (usually there is, because for some obscure reason only nice people apply for a membership at STATTLAB), the rest of the procedure is pure formality. There is an application form (with mostly contact details) to be filled out, a deposit (taking into account the two month notice), ceremonial handover of the keys, technical introduction to espresso machine, alarm system, cleaning schedule etc, and then you’re good to go.

However, at the moment, we have a lot of request and don’t want to grow too much and too fast in order to preserve the good coomunity spirit. Therefore, we might give you an OK but might ask you for a few weeks of patience. We keep a small waiting list and will put your name onto it in order to make things transparent.

If you have any further questions, don’t hestitate to get in touch.

Support us with a donation!

STATTLAB is mostly financed via membership fees. From time to time, we get support from the government. However, individual donations – money, machinery, expertise – allow us to do things we couldn’t afford otherwise.

So, if you feel like helping us, wire us an amount of your choice, big or small… Or get in touch and make a suggestion how to support us in other ways.

By the way – we are officially recognized as a non-profit organization by the Berlin tax authorities and can write receipts for donations which might come handy for your tax declaration.

Thanks!
